Once again Miss Insomnia Tulip is an absolute genius. This would be hard enough on a cake but on Macarons… Go Lou we are so proud of you!
The EYHO gang are having so much fun working on a range of religious themed cakes and treats for Easter. As a creative food genius it is always no surprise Miss Insomnia Tulip was first out of the box with these pentagram hot cross buns – and yes they will be sold in our online shop.
There will also be plain ones for atheists and of course the pentagram one is multipurpose… Turn ii upside down and you can a satanic hot cross bun which also comes with a hint if chilli.
I know we have the anatomical pop up this week but before we focus on hearts on for a week I wanted to share these fairly moving (in an odd way) Serotonin Salted Caramels from Miss Insomnia Tulip – who is a truly unique food artist and one of a kind. Lots more coming on The Depressed Cake Shop in a few weeks…
Chocolate gets right to the heart of sexual pleasure by increasing the brain’s level of serotonin, the feel-good brain chemical. Serotonin plays a major role in positive mood, emotional health, proper sleep and balanced appetite, contributing to numerous behavioral and physiological functions. Decreased serotonin is a well-known factor in cases of depression. Increased brain serotonin promoted by chocolate increases sexual excitation, desire and responsiveness.
I commissioned these David Lynch cake pops from Miss Insomnia Tulip as a thank you to our Bastille client (non edible styling job – http://www.misscakehead.com). As always she manages to totally nail the brief in her own way – creating edible bites of pop culture in a way I have not seen anyone else do. What can I say, the girl is food artist to be reckoned with!
Another preview of the pieces Miss Insomnia Tulip will be selling at the anatomical heart pop up (see previous post). It’s very rare to find someone who consistently comes up with so many totally unique concepts, will someone hurry up and give her a book deal!
More shaped macaron genius from the one, the only, Miss Insomnia Tulip. The valentine’s day pop up is going to be amazing… The homeware, art, cards and gifts are shaping up brilliantly too 😀
Miss Insomnia Tulip said she got bored making pretty cakes so tried her hand at these anatomical Danish patries – I simply adore how how her work is always trying something new and pushing boundaries.
As we’ve said all along this year’s Eat Your Heart Out is not about ‘gore’ it’s about using extreme cakes to communicate messages based around Pathology – hence our location in the St Bart’s Pathology Museum and Carla Valentine co-curating the shop with me. Miss Insomnia Tulip has nailed it with this ‘Common Breast Pathologies’ cupcake, I genuinely feel this has taught me something. Lots of gold stars for her!!!
More inspired cake pops from Miss Insomnia Tulip >> as usual ridiculously good. This set of four is inspired by ‘Women in Horror’, Blair Witch is my favourite if I had to choose.
