BRING IT ON!!!!
An abosolutely key part of The Kraken Rum Edible Autopsy event last week were Beetle & WILDE who are incredibly stylish macabre interior stylists and whose work I much share with you all. They created stunning sets on both the X-Pilot and in the local pub, Yes the Black Ink Society was in fact the Old House At Home, a Queenbrough local pub, with the Beetle & Wilde touch.
Best of all they are also have an awesome shop so you can also by some of the pieces the incredible Caz has sourced in her carefully curated online store. I was blown away with their attention to detail as was everyone on the trip. She has sold a taxidermy fox and a skeleton before we even left the location and has been comissioned to course other items including a stuffed pike (don’t ask)!
Away from the project their items they source for customers, sell in their shop, and use in their designs are equally as stunning.
So that’s Beetle & WILDE – I just know you will all love them as much as I do!
Feed The Beast opens in a matter of days so we are getting more and more images of the finished cakes which will go on sale. The big news is that thanks to The Tattooed Bakers vagina dentata cupcakes will be on sale again for the first time since 2010. Costing £3.50 each I predict they will be one of our biggest sellers. Needless to say if you want one of these beasts on your Halloween table you need to get there early!
The strap line for these cakes: “As friendly as a bulldog and as much fun to kiss”
Want to come along to Eat Your Heart Out to buy these and other lots of other macabre treats then all the details you need are below.
Feed The Beast is open from Friday 25th – Sunday 26th October from 11.30 – 18.30 each day. No tickets are required and it’s free entry, although due to some of the cakes on sale it is an 18+ event. It can be found at The Rag Factory, 16-18 Heneage St, London, E1 5LJ.
Oh and just in case you have not seen the horror movie Teeth!
A week to the opening – who else is as excited as me!
I know a lot of the subscribers to this page are bartenders so wanted to share new of this competition for you all – UK based only I am afraid but what a prize!!!!
It’s that time of year again – here is the official news on Feed The Beast, Eat Your Heart Out 2013, supported by The Kraken Rum:
‘Feed the Beast’ This Halloween with Miss Cakehead’s Extreme Pop Up Cake Shop
Interactive maggot extraction cupcakes & rum filled macabre liqueur chocolate hands tipped to be top sellers at
Eat Your Heart Out 2013
Eat Your Heart Out, the London based globally infamous Halloween pop up cake shop, is back for it’s third year and will be open from the 25th – 28th at The Rag Factory in Brick Lane. The edible art show and cake shop is entitled ‘Feed The Beast’ and is supported by The Kraken Rum. All the cakes have a beastly theme with the top sellers predicted to include vagina dentata cupcakes by The Tattooed Bakers, a ‘Wounds’ cupcake set by Cake Revolution (above) and interactive maggot extraction cupcakes by Twisted Fondant (shown below) which allow for mango flavoured maggots and puss to be removed prior to eating.
Incredible life-sized rum liqueur chocolate body parts are set to be another show (or appetite) stopper – disturbingly realistic they are created using casts of food artists Kate Haigh’s own hands and feet.
Anyone with a love of extreme cakes will not be disappointed with the large ‘Mouth of Kraken’ creation (below) by Heartache Cakes for it comes with almost 100 individual hand made chocolate teeth and a terrifying sense of foreboding destined to set even the most gore hardened cake lovers on edge. Mouth of Kraken cupcakes have also been created for for those only able to deal with less toothy sweet creations.
If you find cakes replicating giant bloody eyeballs of mythical beasts, chocolate skulls and rocky road topped with stitched detail (shown below) too much for you then The Kraken Rum will also be available in the space to steady the nerves – the dark spiced rum also being used in many of the treats on sale ensuring they make look disturbing but will always taste delicious.
The pop up cake shop follows an exclusive invite only The Kraken Rum Edible Autopsy event held nine miles off the coast of Kent on The Redsand Forts (shown below). In additional to a pop up rum bar on board the forts, invited guests will witness an autopsy on the corpse of a Kraken, feast on its flesh and drink fluid (a delicious cocktail) drained from the dead beast. What remains of the corpse will then be displayed at the Feed The Beast pop up cake shop along with images and video taken of the process. Shoppers should be warned that a few weeks on from the official autopsy they should expect the corpse to be bloated, green and maggot riddled.
